School Improvement Council

SIC Meeting

October 23, 2009

Present:  Ms. Sophia Rivera, Ms. Bettes Davis, Ms. Catherine Herndon,
                Ms. Pamela Sulton, Ms. C.R. Hall

1.      ET2T Grant Update

a.     The district received the E2T2 grant.

b.     The technology includes Macbooks for teachers and ITouches for students and teachers.

c.     We are working with the district on getting the logistics in place for the equipment, procedures, and teacher training.

2.     Bright Ideas Grant

a.     Mr. Matthews won a grant from Mid-Carolina Electric for $1000.

b.     He will be working with students and a puppeteer, Hoby Ford, to develop a skit with puppets on the needs of students with disabilities.

3.     Red Ribbon Week – Oct. 26-30

a.     Students will receive Spirit Points for dressing up during Red Ribbon Week.  Monday –wear your clothes backwards day, Tuesday-crazy sock day, Wednesday-hat day, Thursday-wear red day, Friday – Wacky Tacky day.

4.     Report Cards

a.     We hope to get the report cards distributed on time.  We are still working in PowerSchool to get the report cards to print correctly.

5.     PASS Scores Update

a.     The Education Oversite Committee has approved the PASS cut scores.

b.     The district may have its data file in December.

6.     Jealousy Jane on Oct. 29 at 7:00

7.     Chick-fil-a Night on Oct. 27

8.     Red Carpet Application          

a.     We sent off our Red Carpet Application on Oct. 23.
